Here’s a meditation about the beauty of what happens around the table. This is from Wendell Berry’s recent volume of poetry Leavings (2010). The series is “Sabbaths: 2005-2008”
As I read this I think about dinners with my husband’s family, where I hear about their growing up, his grandpa, raising lambs in the summer, all the values of hard work and resilience and honesty and care I see in his family. I observe and absorb in these times still.
What have you learned around the table?
