Here are the goods:
Green beans (French “Rolande” Renee’s Garden variety)
Assorted carrots (from Uprising Seeds – Scarlet Nantes, Dragon, and Yellowstone). So far, the carrots have not been terribly successful, probably due to newbie gardener mistakes. In preparing the bed, I mixed in leaves for the soil composition, but this created a lot of resistance and uneven soil for carrots. The result is a lot of stubbies and even a few squid-y roots.
Merlot bell pepper – the little darling!
We are also still getting flashy-back trout romaine lettuce (and it’s AUGUST!). The larger ones are only starting to bolt. There is also plenty of zucchini, and many green tomatoes… can’t wait for those to ripen.
Eggplants, bell peppers, jalapenos, and cayennes are slowly getting larger, though pepper maggots got at our first crop of bell peppers (!). The small larvae burrowed into the peppers and ruined them. The arugula and the cilantro have bolted in this hot weather, so we’ll re-sow in a couple weeks.
Anyway, to deal with these garden lovelies, we have had plenty of true garden salad.
