yum!! i love soups! and i've always loved lentils (in the form of daal) and want to make soup with it, but lately i haven't had the time to experiment.

my favourite soup is a carrot basil (sort of 'borrowed' from the kitchen of 'the bread garden' when i used to work there):

sautee carrots & potatoes with onions & garlic
add 2 c. stock and a handful of fresh basil and a bit of ginger
boil until carrots are soft
puree with a cup of milk and season w/ s&p
serve with a fresh sprig of basil

i'm gonna try your lentil soup as soon as i find my way out of my heap of assignments & papers!!
